Finding the Right Floor Plan for You

So, you’ve discovered Schuber Mitchell Homes and you might be wondering if we could be the builder for you. You’ve been doing some research and have learned a bit about how we do things around here. But scrolling through our floor plans and available homes might feel overwhelming with all of the options and styles! Come on, what does all this “KB/KP/KI Series” business even mean?! When you schedule an appointment with one of our New Home Specialists, we get to know you and your needs first before we start looking at homes. Our designers have meticulously planned every detail in each home for a specific purpose. It’s really important that we understand what suits your lifestyle so that you don’t end up with a home that is the wrong size or layout. In this blog, we’re going to help you dig into the unique features of a few of our most popular floor plans. You might even discover your dream home!

1400 Wide Series

You could say that the 1400 Wide Series is our most unique floor plan. For starters- why is it the only plan that’s called “wide”? Well, the majority of our homes have a narrow and deep layout so that they can be flexible when it comes to fitting on a variety of homesites. With this home, however, the size allows it to fit on many of our lots with no problem at all. With just over 1400 square feet, this plan works perfectly for small families, downsizers and investors alike.

Homeowners love this plan most for its traditional layout. This is a great option for all of you ranch-style lovers out there! The split floor plan appeals to people with children who crave some privacy and a bit of a noise barrier. With the master bedroom being on the opposite end of the house from the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms, the whole family can enjoy their own individual spaces, and still come together in the open-concept living and kitchen area.

1550KB Series

The “KB” series stands for “kitchen back,” meaning the first thing you see walking into these homes is the living room, with the kitchen and dining area at the back of the home. While keeping with the open-concept trend, the KB’s have slightly more defined boundaries between social areas.

The 1550KB Series has been a tried and true plan for downsizers. With 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, it has plenty of space to host guests, but the manageable square footage comes in handy when it comes to cleaning and maintenance! The open living, kitchen and dining area is easy to get around and it makes hosting a dream when all of your guests can be together in one space.

1700KI Series

The beloved 1700KI Series is one of our best-selling plans. It is a member of our “Kitchen Island” plan family, which fosters togetherness in its wide-open design. This home is ideal for people who enjoy outdoor living space and LOTS of natural light. If your family loves grilling, campfires, or you plan to install a pool, the large back patio of the 1700KI is going to be a little slice of heaven.

When the weather isn’t great for spending your time outside, the open living space is the next best thing about this plan. You can easily enjoy a cooking show from the living room while you’re preparing dinner, or catch every second of the big game at your Super Bowl party. All the while, golden daylight is streaming in through the large wall of windows in the dining area. Plant lovers rejoice!

1950KP Series

Families with young kids and babies absolutely love the 1950KP Series. The kitchen and dining area seamlessly flow into the living room, which is great for keeping an eye on those busy kiddos! The kitchen peninsula (KP) offers more counter space than most of our other plans, which you will love if you enjoy cooking and baking.

You’ll also swoon over the huge master closet that connects the master bath to the laundry room, making the dreaded laundry day less of a hassle.

The interior isn’t the only thing about this plan that steals hearts- the back patio is quite large and easily lends itself to outdoor hosting, while the front elevation options for this home are gorgeous and wildly popular. Both the Rebecca and the Georgia have beautiful front porches that warmly welcome friends and family in.

2500 Series

If you have ever had a family member or friend live with you for an extended period of time, you’ll recognize what a huge perk an additional master suite is. The 2500 Series often finds its owners are established families with children, or folks that enjoy hosting overnight guests. The first master suite in this 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home offers a large, tranquil bathroom with 2 walk-in closets that are connected right to the laundry room. You read that right! And now you have no excuse to avoid putting the laundry away… The second master is perfectly secluded with its own attached bathroom and walk-in closet.

With this plan, you can also enjoy a flex space that works well as a second living space, office or dining room. The 2500 Series has proved time and time again to be a plan that combines luxury and practicality.

2600T Series

We like to say that the 2600T plan is the perfect “All-American” home. Families absolutely love this home because of features like the Jack and Jill bathroom connecting the second and third bedrooms, a large flex room, four large walk-in closets, a massive 4th bedroom and more.

We could go on and on about the 2600T, but the crown jewel of this plan is the T-shaped kitchen island that can serve as the main dining table. It’s built right in for ease of use and enhanced family time. This plan really shines when it comes to hosting guests and family gatherings in the wide-open living space- lest we not forget about the cozy fireplace that sits front-and-center in the living room!

Now that you’ve learned a bit more about our most popular designs, what layout can you picture yourself in? If you still can’t decide we’d love to dream with you. Our ultimate goal is that you love coming home.
